Tennis Shoes

Tennis Shoes. One of the defining items of a little boys wardrobe. The fact that these shoes are on the hearth of our fireplace is a good indication that the boys whose feet go in them are in bed. My boys are constantly on the go. If the shoes are still, it means they are too. What a comfort for a mom to see the shoes on the hearth and know her boys are snoozing soundly after a busy day. It means that the little men are dreaming big dreams about cowboys, action figures, legos, soccer balls, and of course, dirt. Dreams that will eventually become being astronauts, fire fighters, football stars, and doctors when they grow up...dreams that will continue to evolve as they mature.

My dream is that they grow to be men who love the Lord Jesus... who follow hard after Him. My dream is that they learn to seek Him with all of their hearts, souls, minds, and strengths. My dream is that they would put Jesus' desires first in all that they do. A mom with Jesus in her heart knows that if this dream comes true, then all of the rest of everything will fall into place. Perfectly.

"And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and your gates." (Deut. 6:6-9)

"But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children's children -- with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts." (Psalm 103:17-18)
